Criteria

Inclusion Criteria:

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus

• Fasting glycemia above 150 mg/dl

• Signed informed consent

Exclusion Criteria:

• Patients with heart failure > NYHA II

• Uncontrolled hypertension

• Impaired kidney function (creatinine > 3 mg/dl)

• Acute infection
