Inclusion Criteria:

• Planned thyroid surgery

• Age> 45 years

• Signed informed consent to participate in the study

Exclusion Criteria:

• Emergency surgery

• Redo surgery

• Contraindications for lidocaine use

• Pregnancy

• Enrolment to another randomised clinical trial within the last 30 days
